  • TOUR QUESTIONS

  • Are bookings required?

  • Yes, bookings are required due to preparations needed for the tours. Our Guided Cycle Tours are subject to availability as we have a restriction on the maximum number of participants .

  • What to wear on the tour?

  • For cycling convenience, comfortable clothing, ideally do not wear flared trousers or long length jackets. A lightweight raincoat is always a good idea. For footwear, closed shoes or sports sandals for maximum protection and control during your tour. 
    Further recommended options:
    – Camera
    – Sunglasses / Glasses
    – Sunscreen

  • What if it rains?

  • We will not cancel a tour due to rain. The weather in Scotland is unpredictable and rain can occur at any time, especially during the summer months of June-August. Rain is also a very localized phenomenon, happening in small pockets in places while being completely dry only a few kilometers away. 

  • Can children join the bicycle tours?

  • Unfortunately, we do not have any children's bikes or small frame sizes and so we are unable to welcome young children.

  • BICYCLE QUESTIONS

  • What kind of bikes do you have?

  • We have a small fleet of 10 bicycles, and reliability is of the highest importance to us. All of our bikes are Dutch built Gazelle Vento 24 speed bikes which have a non-aggressive riding position and so are very comfortable with step through frames.

  • Do I need to wear a helmet?

  • Bicycle helmets are not compulsory by law in Scotland. However, for your own personal safety, we do encourage you to wear a helmet on the bike Just ask your guide or let us know in the notes section when booking the tour.

  • Do you have tandem bikes?

  • No, we do not have any tandem bikes.

  • Do you have electrical bikes?

  • No, we do not have any electric bikes. Please contact us should you wish to make an alternative arrangement.

  • BOOKING QUESTIONS

  • How do we pay for the tour?

  • When using the website to make a booking we request full payment for the booking for the tours so that we can make the necessary arrangements.
    We offer a full refund if a cancellation is made 24 hours before the start of the ride.

  • Do you accept credit card payments?

  • Yes, we do accept credit card payments.

  • Is there a cancellation policy?

  • If you cancel 24 hours or more before the departure time of your tour, we will refund you 100% of the total price of your booking. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the departure time of the tour, we will charge you a £10 fee and refund the difference from any advance payments already made.

  • GENERAL QUESTIONS

  • Does Discovery Tours run all year round?

  • At the moment we only offer tours during the Summer months. Rain or Shine and based on availability. Please contact us should you not be sure.

  • Do I have to be physically fit or athletic to join a tour?

  • Our bicycle tours are not designed for cycling enthusiasts only. We cycle at a leisurely pace and make frequent stops at interesting spots along the way. A certain level of balance and control of a bike is required.

  • Do you cater to (corporate) events?

  • Yes, we are happy to work with you in planning team building, corporate events, family outings, birthday party and so on based on our tours. Please contact us via the enquiry form on the website.
